Our Story…..
FAMILY OWNED STUDIO SINCE 1985
ARTIST / MAKER: CONNIE ENGELBRECHT
ALASKA evokes the imagination with it’s stunning landscape, amazing wildlife, profound cold, rugged individualism, to name just a few descriptions. So, if you were not born here, people often ask.…”what brought you here?”
I was raised in a sunbelt state and always desired to live where 4 seasons existed. I came to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1972, to attend college and study natural resource management. Through work and adventures, I traveled and lived in many diverse regions of the state. The journey changed my outlook and occupation from development planner to creative ambassador. The handmade products we make feature distinctive designs of nature. Colorful, functional tiles and mugs provide both visitors and residents with a lasting connection to the Alaska experience. And a possible reminder to encourage wise stewardship and sustainable management of wild places and wild animals.
The homebased studio provided an artful environment for raising kids. Surrounded by a workshop of tools and art projects, each evolved their own creative interests. As adults they continue to participate part time in production work, maintaining their skills in sandblasting and /or marketing.
